Mirai Foods wants to be a household name for sustainable cultured meat - Global

In January, Switzerland based Mirai Foods reported to have secured CHF2.1m (US$2.4m) in funding from seven investors, including the Pauling Group and Team Europe. The startup, founded in 2019, plans to use the funds to accelerate the commercialization of its beef products cultured from animal stem cells, with the view of becoming “a leading household brand for cultivated meat by 2030.” According to the company, its bioreactor based production eliminates 80-90% of the waste inherent in the process of conventional meat production, using less water, less land and emitting less greenhouse gases.
