September 10, 2025 – Energy drinks are a booming market with an increasingly complex market structure, as up-and-coming brands offer a growing range of value-added ingredients and benefits. Traditional formulas of sugar and caffeine still sell well, with Red Bull and Monster remaining the top two brands in the market. While these brands do offer zero-sugar options, they face increasing competition from newer zero-sugar brands such as Celsius, Nutrabolt’s C4, Ghost and ZOA, among others.
Expanded benefits are the future: immunity support, brain health, gut health, mood-boosting, hydration and muscle support are all coming forth in energy drinks. The ingredients supporting these benefits are also increasingly natural and plant-based rather than artificial (e.g., caffeine from green tea and green coffee).
