November 20, 2025 – The biggest challenge for families of all sizes is the increase in food prices – and balancing those increases with the already difficult enough task of providing meals and snacks that meets everyone’s needs. Consumers are already planning and price checking: 64% of US and 71% of Canadian consumers plan their food purchases, and 76% of US and 82% of Canadian consumers always check prices, even on small items. These habits will only heighten as financial situations become more precarious. Brands have little room for error under this increased scrutiny, as consumers will also be assessing value for price and whether or not certain items are “worth it”, whether that means purchasing at all or rearranging budgets to fit certain name brands in.
