September 17, 2025 – Mental health continues to be a prominent concern globally as consumers try to cope with stresses, large and small. When we surveyed consumers in 11 countries for our Innova Trends Survey 2025, we learnt that stress and anxiety are the top consumer concerns related to mental health. The number two mental health issue is sleep and insomnia, which can be impacted by anxiety. Functional mental health concerns, such as focus and memory, were lower on the list than emotion-related issues. When asked which functional ingredients they seek for mental health, consumers named certain B vitamins, followed by vitamin D and C. A smaller percentage seek botanical ingredients such as ashwagandha (Withania somnifera), one of the most widely used and fastest growing botanical ingredients.
