Pasta Market Trends in the US 2026

Explore US pasta and noodles market trends in 2026, with consumer insights and preferences

August 20, 2026 – The US pasta and noodles market continues to grow. It is forecasted to hit nearly $10 billion in value by 2027. Volume is also increasing, though it is difficult to tell whether value is going up because consumers are buying premium pasta products, paying higher prices for pasta in the US, or other factors. However, historical data on the US pasta market suggests that consumers are not willing to pay a premium for pasta, and this presents a threat to pasta manufacturers if ingredient costs go up. Although budget is important to US consumers, affordability alone is also not enough to push US consumers to buy and eat more pasta. Innova’s Pasta & Noodles in the US report examines this context and the trends that will shape the category moving forward.

Three Trends are Affecting the US Pasta Market All at Once

Three different key trends are affecting the US pasta market together. The first is that private label has caught up with name-brand pastaofferings. Pasta trends reveal that private label is setting the standard for pasta in the US, andbrand name is not an important decision factor in the US market. Therefore, ways for manufacturers to gain a competitive advantage could include focusing on desirable product features like high protein, fresh ingredients, or authenticity of regional ingredients. The second is that pasta innovation is happening more in chilled prepared pasta than in dry pasta. Lastly, Innova Market Insights’ consumer research and US food trends showthat about one-third of US consumers say they are using or thinking about using GLP-1 medications. This may lead them to cut their consumption of carbohydrate-rich foods like pasta.

Additional Trends Affect the US Pasta Market

Several other consumer pasta trends are affecting the US market. For example, chilled pasta brands who entered the market early are setting the price cap for those who follow. Another trend is the move toward protein in pasta, especially when it is promoted on the front of the food package. This can turn into an advantage for US pasta brands with protein. In addition, various types of authentic Asian and Korean noodles are establishing themselves as culturally relevant alternatives in the US pasta market. Again, entrenched competition can make it harder for new pasta brands to enter the marketplace.

Growth in the US Pasta Market is Uneven

The uneven growth in the US pasta market can be described as a k-shaped curve. Trending upward are premium pastas and chilled pastas. Trending downward are the more traditional dried pasta products. Brands that are in the middle will need to work harder to attain and maintain market share to keep up with current consumer pasta trends.

Solo Diners Have Needs to be Met

The uneven growth in the US pasta market can be described as a k-shaped curve. Trending upward are premium pastas and chilled pastas. Trending downward are the more traditional dried pasta products. Brands that are in the middle will need to work harder to attain and maintain market share to keep up with current consumer pasta trends.

Men and Women Have Different Needs

US pasta and noodle brands can meet the needs of men and of women with one approach to marketing. Men and women in the US use instant noodles and prepared pasta products for different reasons, at different occasions, or in the same way. It may not be feasible or realistic to develop products just for men or just for women, but US pasta brands could be marketed with specific serving suggestions for each.

Pasta Brands Need to be Authentic

US food trends highlight that pasta brands need to be authentic in their entirety, not just in their ingredients. Several brands are gaining share in the US market, and they are doing it through sharing a food culture or being specific to a particular culture rather than just setting an attractive price or offering convenience. Therefore, US pasta brands that are inspired by other cultures rather than being authentic are unlikely to gain share.

What’s Next in the US Pasta Market?

Innova Market Insights expects that consumer pasta trends will see chilled pasta brands standing out as premium products, while dry products will dominate in private label. Additionally, US food trends in 2026 underscore how private label will gain share of chilled prepared pasta. Brands that survive offer consumers more than what private label can. The ceiling for price in chilled pasta will have been set by the early innovators, and it will be hard for late-entering brands to catch up. Users of GLP-1 weight loss drugs are also likely to have a permanent impact on portion sizes. The US market probably will see more single-serve packaging rather than trays that contain multiple servings. Innova expects differentiation by products and price in macaroni and cheese products into commodity mac and cheese, better-for-you mac and cheese, and options with experimental flavors. Solo diners will be able to choose from pasta options sized for single portions, and these will take share away from multi-serve packages.
